I have filed HB 213 requiring special elections to be held in event of a US Senate vacancy. The recent past has proven that the appointment process is flawed, allowing for too much cronyism. People should decide, not one person. There is no reason we should treat senate vacancies any different than House vacancies and passing this legislation will give us a head start on what will soon be a federal mandate when U.S. Senator Russ Feingold's amendment passes Congress. Your support of this legislation will be crucial to its success in the Florida Legislature.
