The below video slideshow, which highlights just some of Tampa Bay's beauty, contains audio of my recent remarks at an Agency on Bay Management meeting. To drill for oil in state waters, just a few miles off the shores of America's best beaches, has been called "the biggest decision in the state's history". For both security and environmental reasons, our addiction to oil must begin to end. I am determined to see Florida become a global leader in its production and use of clean, renewable energy, and not reliant on what New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman has called the "19th-century technology" of fossil fuels.
